Prolamin is a revolutionary feed supplement consisting of two separate formulations developed to assist recovery and then provide, on a long-term basis, the essential micronutrients missing from a restricted ration due to founder (laminitis).

Product Benefits

Prolamin contains two separate formulations to be fed together: a micronutrient pellet and blended specific herbs that combine to provide hoof-healthy nutrients. The micronutrient pellet contains the essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids for efficient healing and maintenance of good health when on reduced feeding levels. There's extra vitamin E, vitamin A, selenium and zinc included for their antioxidant activity to help the body deal with free radical effects of illness such as founder. The herbal formula contains hawthorn, buckwheat leaves, rose hips and nettle, specifically selected for their high content of bioflavonoids, especially Rutin. In addition to acting as antioxidants, bioflavonoids are involved in capillary strength and circulation, important elements in foot tissue regeneration.

Feed supplements should be fed according to bodyweight - height has been given as a guide. Introduce gradually, splitting between feeds (when applicable) and follow the directions for use carefully.

Feed Prolamin to assist the natural recovery of damaged hoof tissues and continue to feed Prolamin on a daily basis to replace the essential micronutrients missing from restricted rations. Horses and ponies with founder should be fed low levels of concentrate feed and Prolamin has been developed to be fed in conjunction with these.

The horse and Founder

Founder (also known as Laminitis) is a painful, debilitating condition, distressing for both horse and owner. Although the damage it causes to the feet is obvious, the trigger factors and exactly how it happens is still mostly unexplained. There is no supplement currently available that will stop laminitis from occurring or cure it. However, the restricted rations necessary for management of the condition will be deficient in the nutrients necessary for adequate recovery and for the maintenance of health long-term.
