Hormonease
For a healthy hormone balance
Product Description
Hormonease is a natural supplement containing chasteberry (Vitex agnus-castus), black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) and red clover flowers (Trifolium pratense) in a ground soya meal base that together help to maintain a healthy hormone balance in mares.
Product Benefits
Hormonease contains herbs that have been used throughout history to support female hormones, and soya, which is rich in isoflavones. Hormonease provides a natural way to maintain normal hormone balance, which is important for normal cycling and behaviour. Balanced levels of hormones are very important for the mare's cycles to proceed normally because each has an effect on the other. Unbalanced hormones may inhibit ovulation, disturbing the normal cycle and reducing the chance of pregnancy. Imbalances may also cause unpredictable behaviour and irritability.
Feed To
mares to help support hormone balance, especially during the spring and summer. Hormonease should not be fed to pregnant mares, so discontinue feeding 10 days before your mare is covered.

Hormone balance
Mares are 'entire' animals, under the influence of fluctuating reproductive hormone levels. Hormones are chemical messengers that 'tell' various body organs what to do. Reproductive hormones control the oestrus cycle, and are responsible for the signs of oestrus (sexual behaviour). Horses are described as seasonal breeders, i.e. they are reproductively active (cycle) during late spring and summer. This cycling is triggered
by hormone levels that fluctuate as a result of lengthening daylight hours and the increase in nutrition that accompanies spring grass growth. Mares have an oestrus cycle that lasts about 21 days, and involves a cascade of hormones that are intended to trigger ovulation, encourage fertilisation, and allow implantation (pregnancy). If a mare is not covered and does not become pregnant, specific hormones reverse the uterine changes that were preparing for pregnancy, and start the cycle over again.
